Sixty is Sweet Hydrangea Birthday Party

Details! details! details in the garden at this hydrangea Sixty is Sweet birthday party for Jane of The Garden Girls!

Here today to share the pictures of the garden and decor of the party. Jane & I had a blast planning, shopping, crafting, sharing and styling her party!  We hope you are able to get inspired with what was created,  as Darcy Miller shared with me when I asked how many details are too many? Her answer "there are never to many details, it is about the process".......I think Jane had fun with the process most especially in her gorgeous gardens!  I'll have to get her to share more pictures of the gardens around her home, she has created a peaceful and relaxing place.

You're Invited!!  The invitation that I designed for the party ~
it will be in my shop soon:  Styled Prints Design Loft

Close up of the ball jar, Jane's tip: gather your flowers and place the stems in a water tube to keep them fresh before placing them in your ball jars, keeps them together & easy for displaying the jars.

The deck is styled & set for all the guests!!

Absolutely beautiful centerpieces created Jane!

Did you notice the flamingo on the invitation that I created for the party?  Here she is adorned with a sweet ball jar of flowers!  Placido Flamigo is the flamingo's name, she certainly makes a statement in the gardens that for sure!

It was a hot & humid August day here in Chestnut Hill, we were prepared with fans perfect for a garden party from Beau Coup! Here is the link for the fans there are so many colors to chose from!

Jane accessorized all the lantern with stands of paper hydrangeas that she created!

Party Kits on Opensky.com by Darcy Miller

Today you HAVE-TO click over to see something fun & exciting for the party world on Opensky.com.  Especially if you are a Mom who loves to be creative and clever when hosting a themed party but desires one stop shopping for everything you need to pull your party together!

Today on Opensky.com, the one & only Darcy Miller of Martha Stewart Weddings has curated a fun and bright Daisy party that is a must see!  I had the opportunity to speak with Darcy about this collection and party, she gave me tips and advice to share with you for hosting this or any party.

I will say the conversation was such an honor and in the end it was sweet to realize so many similar things her and I do as Mom's for our 3 girls to make birthdays and celebrations special.  One of the questions that I asked Darcy was how many details are too many details?  If you see in the photos and inspiration boards there are so many details. First, they are very easy to execute most especially if you purchase the Daisy party starter kits, and everything else is on opensky.com and you have yourself a Daisy Party just like the one Darcy hosted for her daughter Daisy!

Darcy answered the question of how many details are too many and simply the answer is "you do what fits", it is all about the process of getting the party together, whether it be your kids punching out or cutting printables to your bridesmaids deciding what to have and what to get for your shower!   Here with opensky.com launch of a party put together by Darcy Miller it isn't a question of searching around the internet of what details and products to style your party, it is all at one place put together by the best of the best when it comes to celebrations!

Here are a few pictures of the Daisy party!  Click here for more.  Check back later today for more details of my conversation with Darcy about entertaining and up-cycling ideas for your party products.

This time of the summer is perfect for having a berry harvest themed party!   I was thrilled to have the party featured on Amy Atlas Sweet Designs blog!

My favorite part was the cake, the backdrop & the party favors!  For the party favors find the zucchini bread recipe HERE & the strawberry jam recipe HERE is is a Martha Stewart quick & easy one!

Down on the Farm Personalized Kids Cups DIY idea

This past weekend we had our youngest daughters 3rd birthday party, hard to believe our little one is 3.  This birthday she was very specific on what "theme" she wanted which was cows & piggy party.  So a little down on the farm was in order.  Today I wanted to share with you a cute idea I had for the drink cups for the kids!

I love mason jars as many of us do, and if you ever saw my post on how I used the mason jars for vases and I sprayed painted the lids with chalkboard paint to write on, you will see that is what inspired this idea to up-cycle DIY for the drink cups.  I have seen around on Pinterest the daisy cut out lids that many have used and I think they are adorable.  I was lucky one day to be on Facebook when Kim from The Tomkat Studio listed them in her shop and I immediately ordered a set.   Here is the link Vintage Daisy Jar lids~ Shop Tomkat , I also bought my mason jars at Michaels.

Also, I discovered something new for cupcake toppers!  With a little mod podge & a paint brush I was in business!

What you need for the mason jar chalk board tags is a drill to drill the hole, a spray paint can of chalkboard paint, twine & chalk of course!

Drill the holes before you spray paint the lids.  I painted my lids and glued on the printables to the jars the night before the party and assembled them in the morning.

What do you think?  The kids loved them, and the chilled watermelon juice they drank throughout the party! Also, take a look of her cows and piggy balloons~ there was not a chance the real things were coming to my house.

I will have more from Margaret's down on the farm birthday fair, I think I am still recovering from scrambling everything around from when the storms rolled in!

Peace, Love & DIY Mason jar drink cups,

Avocado Roasted Garlic Quinoa Salad

Typically you will see all sweets and parties here!  But today I wanted quickly to share with you a delicious and healthy salad ~ Avocado Quinoa (keen-wa) Salad

3 cups of cooked room temp or cold quinoa
(for the roasted garlic flavor I use Roland brand and I cook it in vegetable stock)
1 can of reduced sodium black beans rinsed and drained
1 cup of room temperature corn
1 pint a little less or more of grape tomatoes cut in half
2 avocados cut up into ¼ to ½ pieces
¼ of chopped red onions

Dressing~ (make you dressing 1st let it come together for about 30 minutes if not longer) this dressing is so good!  Make an extra batch and save it for a taco salad or marinate some chicken!

¼ of grape seed oil or a scant less
¼ of fresh lime juice
2 teaspoons of balsamic vinegar
1 chopped and minced clove of garlic
1 teaspoon of minced fresh ginger root
Dash of kosher salt
3-4 teaspoons of chopped cilantro ( more if you want to, I like just enough cilantro I don’t like to over do it)

Mix all the salad ingredients, then mix in the dressing and let it chill for at least an hour to let it all come together.

Enjoy!  Do you like quinoa?  Its all the health rage now I think or apart of it with the amount of protein and heath benefits it has to offer.  How do you eat or serve the grain.  Let me know I would love to hear!

Peace Love & Quinoa~
